[ Exhausted, both emotionally and physically, the elezen mage assured her lalafell companion that she would rest. Granted it took a bit of assuring but Trisselle had managed to ease her concerns and promised Tataru to check in with her the next day. Only after embracing her friend did she make her out of the Rising Stones and out into the open, fresh air of Mor Dhona, shielding her eyes under her hand from the sunlight that greeted her suddenly. For a moment she lingered there. She closed her eyes while breathing in deep before opening them once more as she exhaled.
So much had happened in what felt like such little time.
The faces of the Scions flashed in her mind leaving her to feel a knot in her stomach. Though they were safe for the time being there was still that fear that lingered, nagging at the back of her mind. They had to come back to the Source. It would happen. Right? The knot sunk even further as her thoughts drifted to the Crystal Exarch- no, G'raha Tia. Her emerald gaze looked back in the direction of the Crystal Tower of here and all she could feel was the conflicting emotions of relief and anger at the mi'qote. Why had he felt it necessary to hide the truth from her when he needed only tell her the moment she had arrived on the First? What made him believe it better to hide behind a facade? Had he thought to be truthful with her, honest even, just as Emet-Selch had with them...
'Remember us.'
Swallowing thickly, Trisselle let out a steadying breath. The cool breeze rustled her hair and the fur trimming of her attire, which had been a parting reward for her assisting with both Eden and the Empty and a new look to her usual clothing prior to her trip to the First. Strange it may seem but she felt comfortable and confidence; and perhaps a touch of pride. It was certainly a little more inline with the fashion of where she was planning on heading to now.
Thus, she brought her fingers to her lips once she was out a bit past the city and whistled. In moments the familiar sight of her green chocobo greeted her, allowing her a moment to forget her worries as she laughed, as the bird butted his beak against her cheek with a chirp.
"Forgive me, Mint. I promise to make it up to you with extra gyshal greens later."
She was rewarded with another chirp and the ruffling of wings before he nudged her cheek gently this time. With ease, she hoisted herself up onto the saddle. Trisselle then leaned forward and patted the side of his neck, softly instructing him where she wished to go. While the mage had every intention of keeping her word to Tataru there was something she had promised herself she would see to the moment she returned to the Source.
---
Leaving her chocobo with a pat on his beak in the stables, the Warrior of Light strode out into the frigid air of Ishgard. While many would have found the sights to be dreary and disheartening she could only see strength and promise. Along her route from the stables to the halls she had passed many familiar and unfamiliar faces alike. One in particular had caught her attention and soon the mage found herself reuniting with Lord Francel, promptly being whisked away to the Jeweled Crozier.
Now Trisselle certainly needed something to focus her attention on. Behind the soft smiles and quiet laughter, she felt that twist in her core still. Francel had provided for her the ideal project by aiding in the restoration plans that had since become a second home to her. Seeing Briarden and Hilda and so many friends of her home were the right amount of encouragement for her to agree to assist. Yet as she walked alongside the lord to the Firmament, she could have sworn she saw a flash of gold in his eyes. With the heel of her palm she rubbed her own and quickly waved away his concern when he voiced this.
"Tis nothing, Francel. I simply must be more tired than I thought. If we may speak of this matter tomorrow I would gladly hear more of these plans of yours, as well as speak with the rest of the crew." "Of course! Forgive me for keeping you-- we shall pick this up again anon."
After an exchange of bows between them the Warrior of Light hastened her steps to resume her original course. A course that took her to the familiar sight of the Congregation of Our Knights Most Heavenly. Once inside, she rubbed her hands together to bring warmth. Her footsteps finally came to a halt before the knight standing card at the doors that lead to where she truly needed to be. She greeted them with a bow and a flash of a smile.
"Is the Speaker of the House available?" "Yes ma'am. He only arrived recently from meeting with the other Houses."
Offering a word of thanks Trisselle moved on past the knight as they stood to the side to allow her passage. Before long she found herself standing in front the familiar doors. Raising a curled fist, she knocked once, then twice, hoping upon hope that she was not disrupting the one person she really needed to see. ]
[He knew that she had duties to attend to even if he didn't want to let her go back. The Scions being Called and with the Garlean Empire on their heels, both she and Aymeric knew their places at the time and nothing could really change it. It was hard for him to tell her to stay, that she has a place here too but was it right?
Even as he loves her, Aymeric cannot be selfish.
And yet with the fighting on the Ala Mhigan border, he somehow managed to get messages from...a peculiar looking sylph. Nay, they called themselves a pixie from another...shard? It was hard to believe but this creature calling themselves Feo Ul had come to deliver a message from Trisselle, explaining what exactly was happening. An entire shard almost consumed by Light and the means to save it lies within her. This Crystal Exarch had better know what he was doing otherwise he will find a way to have words.
All the lord commander could do is wait to hear back from Feo Ul just so his worries can be eased a little; only a little because he will always worry and not due to friendship. No, it's because he cares and for once in his life, stepped up to speak on it. He's in love and Aymeric refuses to let it go.
It's when he returns from his meeting with the other Houses that he only manages to sit down, only to hear a knock at the door. His first thought is to pretend he isn't in but it's when he hears her call out, Aymeric's previous thoughts are thrown right out the window.]
Fury forfend...
[He whispers as he rushes to the door and opens it wide, to see who is waiting on the other side and he cannot help but smile.]
Triss-! [Relief that she's safe as he gestures for her to enter.] Come on inside, I am sure you are here for a good reason.
[ The realization that she had been holding her breath anxiously had not registered until the door opened and she was greeted by the familiar figure of the Lord Commander. Releasing a sigh of relief it took every ounce of practiced etiquette and self control to keep herself from throwing her arms around him in that moment. The knight standing guard was still within hearing range. And they certainly weren't far enough away to simply look down their way and see her embracing Aymeric so suddenly.
Twelve above she truly loved him. It was not shame that lead her to keep their relationship away from watchful eyes. With so much of her life being an open book with what it means to be a Warrior of Light, there was some things she wished to keep to herself. Her time spent with Aymeric was always time she treasured most. Sometime soon though, she wished to walked along side him as more than comrades in arms in the public eye.
Upon her lips a warm smile appeared when he welcomed her. She bowed her head towards him as she followed his gesture and took the few steps needed to enter his office. ]
Thank you, Lord Commander. I thought it would be best to bring my report to you directly upon returning. I hope I am not troubling you so late?
[His smile is warm, welcoming as he nods to the guard. A sign that means that there is no danger and the Lord Speaker will take it from here. After all, this is only a meeting to discuss something minor and needs no watchful eyes as of this moment. The guard nods as they head further away to attend to other duties, Aymeric closing the door behind him until he hears the bolt click into place. No, they were not locked inside but the door is shut all the way and he is content.
After all, how can he make his feelings known if anyone can see? Taking her by the wrist gently, he pulls the Warrior in for a sweet kiss without a second thought. He's earned this and like hells he will hold back, not from her even as he wraps his free arm around her.]
[ Aymeric would hear absolutely no complaints from her at this. None whatsoever. Though surprise flickered in her eyes for all of one moment before she was leaning into his embrace as she welcomed the kiss. Her heart fluttered from the warm touch of his lips as if this was their first one all over again. And though it had not been for as long, it certainly felt as if she had not been in his company for months. Trisselle felt that she was finally home once more.
One hand found a place upon his cheek with her thumb brushing against while the other came to rest upon his chest when they parted. She really could get lost in his eyes she mused to herself. A blue so piercing they shone bright even in the soft lighting of his office.
She spoke softly when she found her voice. ]
And I missed you. Far more than I can even begin to describe.
[ This time it was she who kissed him and a little more soundly at that. The warmth she felt from being held was enough to ease her troubled thoughts. Even if only lasted for however long this visit would last. Being the Warrior of Light meant she was responsible for the lives of many. The weight of it all rested on her shoulders and she carried it with her wherever her life took her. It didn't matter whether it was here on the Source or back on the First. The mage was the support of so many. Everyone counted on her.
But here? With Aymeric? Trisselle was safe to be herself.
To open herself up and be vulnerable. While she did not wish to overwhelm him with her own troubles, she could not help clinging to him as they kissed. He was her support just as she was for him. ]
[She is right: words cannot describe how terribly he missed her and rightfully worried. What in the seven hells exactly happened? Has the danger passed on the First? How is she feeling? Selfish as it may seem, but by the Fury did Aymeric not want to let go. With her kiss, he feels as if he can melt right on the spot. He hopes this will be a visit that will last longer than what the average report is given just because there seems to be quite a tale to tell...but would it be fine here or...?
Halone help him, he can feel himself get breathless as he pulls away just enough to barely brush against her lips.]
I need not to know in words but the feeling within you is all that matters. But what has happened on your journey into the unknown?
[ Feo Ul had only passed along just enough to, hopefully, keep the man at ease, but there was so much more to the story. Resisting the urge to kiss him a third time to distract herself from what transpired, the mage moved her hand from his cheek to lay upon his arm, drawing back a little. ]
And yet there is still so much more left to be done. The Exarch is currently working on finding a way to send the Scions back home but we know not how long that will be. And there is still the matter of the Sineaters and the Light that threatens the First, as well as helping to restore that Star to from before the Flood of Light occured.
[ Of course this would make little sense without proper context. Context that would require more time and a far more private venue. Allowing herself to relax some, her forehead found support when pressed to the armor of his shoulder. Her face hidden for the time being meant she could let her expression lose its composure without worrying him. Her words were only somewhat muffled but still close enough for him and him alone to hear. ]
Forgive me for being selfish in asking this of you, but... [ The hand upon his chest was now bunching up the fabric of his tunic. ] Please allow me to stay with you tonight. I do not wish to be alone. [ Twelve above she already felt a wave of guilt wash over as soon as the request left her lips. He was a busy man with a city and its people to protect, not to mention war with Garlemald looming over their heads. To ask him to stay with her for the rest of the day and night was exceedingly selfish. ] Even if only for a few bells, that would be enough. And I promise to tell you everything.
[Enough information to make him not worry so much but he still does. And with how Triss holds onto him, there's more to the story. Letting his free arm wrap around her, he nods and speaks quietly.]
After all you have done for us, you have earned the right to be selfish for some time and I would insist on it.
[But this is his chance to get her away from the office. If she wishes for rest and succor, who is he to deny it?]
I would never turn you away when you need it, Triss. My home is just as much as yours. You need only but ask and I will make it within my power to do so.
[ Relaxing her grip, slowly, she was content to be held a bit longer. The world beyond the doors was awaiting them but here in this moment of time it was simply warm, soothing company. When Trisselle finally lifted her head she pressed a soft kiss to his cheek. ]
Thank you, Aymeric.
[ The corners of her lips turned up into a small smile before she leaned forward so that her nose could nudge his affectionately.
Was this what it meant to feel at home? Yes. It must be.
Feeling some of the tension ease she peered over his shoulder to catch a peek at his desk. At the familiar sight of work that always seemed to decorate it no matter the day, the Warrior looked to catch his gaze. Again that nagging thought that she should not have come here flared. It was quelled by repeating his statement just now in her mind. ]
I dropped in unannounced so I know you must be in the middle of tens of matters. Is there anything I can help you with?
[No matter where she goes or where she rests her head in the end, Aymeric will always have his doors open for her. He's sure the same goes for the former Count de Fortemps and anyone within Ishgard's walls would want to let the hero stay with them for a time. But for most, they do not see past the titles of the woman who had helped them and Aymeric is always grateful for how humble she can be even with the world plunged into chaos.
Except when handling black magic. Even he knows not to fuck with her when mad.]
You just arrived back and here you are asking about assisting me with my own work. [Said with a chuckle as he returns the nose bumping.] Nay, this is something I can handle on my own and none of it are pressing matters.
[He's just that type of idiot who would do paperwork just to get an early start.]
You on the other hand are the only important thing right now. And if there is anything I can do to try and ease your mind, I would do it.
More can be accomplished if you have an extra set of eyes and hands at your disposal. [ Her tone was light with humor, knowing full well that he would remain steadfast and stubborn about the matter. ] Ishgard has been home to me in so many ways and I will do everything in my power to support the work you do for this city. For its people. [ With a nod in the direction of his desk, she added ] That includes shuffling through unending piles of paperwork if it means you will get some well earned rest.
[ Her heart fluttered at his words still and Trisselle could not deny the feeling of gratitude to the Commander. She knew what it meant to the Warrior of Light. Not once could she think ill of anyone when she knew it was in her power to do so much to help those in need. But to hear someone show such concern, to place her well being first, well... it was not often that she felt like a person instead of a figurehead or role model.
With care she stepped back slightly, withdrawing from his embrace, but she would not forgo their connection just yet. In her hands she took his, brushing a chaste kiss to the back of them. The leather of his fingerless gloves was cool to the touch. ]
Allowing me to stay in your company is enough. Wherever that may be, so long as I can remain by your side.
[ A little cliche perhaps, but then again she was not known for clever words or poetry. ]
News of what I have missed while I was away would be welcomed though. How have you been fairing? How is Lucia for that matter?
